Description
Corsini, Medici, Torrigiani. No, this is not the start of a Dr. Seuss book. These names belong to the noble families in Florence. Each family has a history of well documented contributions to Florentine life and world culture, which goes back five hundred to a thousand years.
You now have a special opportunity to enter their world through two exclusive experiences which will engage all five of your senses!
Your day will begin with a private tour of the breathtaking Palazzo Corsini, otherwise closed to the public. The Countess herself will give you the tour of the family’s sprawling Palace, built in the sixteenth century, and purchased by the Corsini from the Medici. She will give you a window into the family’s lifestyle and vast wealth, their contributions to Italian culture, their continuing passion for collecting art, and their ongoing loyalty to the city of Florence. The historic Palace is drenched with baroque paintings by artists such as Botticelli, Andrea del Sarto, Caravaggio and Pontormo. The sculptures, architecture, design and the various collections housed in the palace get more and more magnificent as you move from one room to the next.
Your day will continue with an exclusive invitation into the Villa Torrigiani, where the Duchess will welcome you into her sixteenth century, Versailles-inspired estate, that overlooks Europe’s largest private garden within city walls. This world-famous seven-hectare garden is dedicated to flowers that grow between walls, geometrical hedges, a large fishpond, and statues and vases that will leave you in awe. You will then be invited back into the estate where you will be served Canapes and drinks, followed by a private, five-star, three-course meal, prepared by the family’s chef. You will also be served the home-made wine produced by Duke Torrigiani. This residence is a real sight to see. It’s architecture, rich history, gardens and design, topped with a delicious meal with one of Florence’s oldest, and most noble families, is an experience you will never forget!
These experiences will take you back in time and give you a real taste as to what life as a noble must be like. You will not want to miss out on this once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to get up close and personal with Florence’s most powerful families and learn, first-hand, how their families contributed to building Florence into the beautiful city it is today!
